I just saw the movie Wordplay, which focuses on Will Shortz, editor of the New York Times crossword puzzle, and organizer of the country's premier annual crossword competition. It's a wonderful film about drama, and friendship, and community, and weirdness. And it's also about New York, which I guess is all those things rolled into one.
But I was most fascinated by Will Shortz and his puzzle constructors - people who make a living doing what they genuinely love to do. If only everyone could do that.
