It's that time of year and sometimes, trying to find the perfect gift can make you a little nuts! Last Friday, my daughter and I hit the stores at 4:57 A.M.! Throngs of people were waiting in line and when the mall doors opened, people flooded in -- actually sprinting, darting, dashing -- all to get the perfect gift before the supply ran out. Crazy it was!
One lady, in her hurry to get to the perfect gift, collided with a lovely 10 ft. beautifully decorated holiday tree, then let loose with some not so holiday-ish sounding expletives, and proceeded to shove her way through the crowd. Such glee!
And then, there were those quietly, politely going about their business. Others were waiting in line to buy a gift card. Some were seeking the perfect greeting card to hold the green stuff.
The chaotic scene reminded me of the way job seekers go about looking for work -- some aggressively pursuing the goal until they get it -- whatever it is! There's a clear vision of what they want and nothing will stop them -- not even large obstacles that stand in the way!
Some seekers show persistence and discernment...going shopping at many different places, trying on an assortment of jobs until they find the one that's just right for them.
And yet, others take the first job that comes along, even if it's not a good fit! Anything to get the shopping done, and over with!
So, here it is, the shopping season upon us. Diverse needs. Different styles. Distinct strategies. What are you shopping for? What's your perfect job?
