Check out Jason Alba's JibberJobber blog post on networking introductions for an example of one of the best networking introduction letters I've ever seen.
The letter is absolutely professional, yet disarmingly friendly. It is generous, yet it is a call to action. BTW, the call to action is Jason offering to help the recipient -- not the reverse.
If you understand that great networking is a "give to get gig," you'll want to add Jason's strategies to your networking toolbox.
