Took a road trip today to the beautiful countryside of Iowa. Rolling hills. Frozen ponds. Flat lands. Crooked fence posts. Big, old barns. Idle windmills. Majestic maples. Scraggly trees. Stately evergreens. Sparkling snowdrifts. Winding blacktop. Fertile soil sleeping. Deer tracks on embankments.
And I inhaled it! With exclamation! And exhilaration! With joy and gratefulness for what's to come. What's to be. The long winter pause before the newness of spring. The rest before the race. The silence before the chaos and commotion.
Much like the in-between time before you land the new job. Or figure out the next step in your career. Or find the courage to try something different. Or realize that quitting something bad can mean beginning something better. Unsure of what's around the bend. The uncertainty that comes with not knowing. Wondering. Waiting. Yet imagining tomorrow. Eagerness for what's in store. Identifying interests. Exploring possibilities. Rebuilding. Reinventing. Preparing. Discovering options. Awaiting the moment of what's next with such anticipation...in the meantime.
