TMI (Too Much Information) - that's what Wall Street is saying about Yale senior Aleksey Vayner, who goes far beyond the usual in his resume video. How much is too much information? See for yourself.

This may be old news, referring to the previous comment, but I have spent much of this month looking at technology in the hiring process over at www.interviewchatter.com. This issue of video resumes is not old news. It is growing in the marketplace. As a career coach, I believe video resumes are a mistake for candidates. For managers it is a great tool. Here is one of my links: http://www.interviewchatter.com/video-resumes-you-be-the-judge/.

A video resume, if created, should be no more than 30 seconds long, just like an elevator pitch. No recruiter is going to sit around and watch a 5 minute video.

I mentioned Vayner's video resume mistake (which has gone viral) in a recent post (http://machete.wildjobsafari.com/2007/05/28/resumes-video-resumes-part-i.aspx), which is Part 1 of a 3-part series I'm doing on the topic.
In general, Darlene and Rob hit the nail right on the head: video resumes "can be" a mistake for candidates (and usually are), but if the job seeker insists on having one, brevity is key.
There are ways to eliminate video resume mistakes. Hope you read my series to find out what I've learned.
