My client called to say that he wasn't sure how well he did in his interview. He said everything was going along nicely until he was asked this question:
What animal best describes you?
So what did you tell them?
Well, I told them a bird.
"How did you pick bird? I gently probed.
Silence. No reply. He proceeded to ask me what I thought of his animal choice.
I told him what I thought didn't matter -- what mattered was what the decision-maker thought.
How was your answer received?
She said it was "different than what she expected."
So what were you "supposed to be?"
"I don't know" he said -- "but probably not a bird?"
My client picked bird. He picked bird over an alpaca or an armadillo, or a bat, bear, cat, cheetah, cougar, cow or a deer, dog, elephant, ferret, giraffe, goat or a horse, lamb, lion, owl, pangolin, or a pig, porcupine, rabbit, skunk, tiger, turtle, whale or wolf, or, or, or?
In Carole Martin's article Prep for the Top 10 Interview Questions, the Number 10 question she lists is:
"If you were an animal, which one would you want to be?"
