Job Search - Playing to Win
A winning attitude is the critical linchpin in a job search or career development scenario. Jason Alba of JibberJobber.com reminds us in his blog post "Complacency Is for the Dogs".
Even though a stellar resume and targeted cover letter can get you in the door for an interview, if your attitude stinks as in "I'm angry, depressed, arrogant, owed a living, just coasting (here to warm a seat and collect a paycheck), and so on you will not attract the job offers you want. In fact, you may just burn some bridges for future job possibilities.
Just like a website or blog needs some sort of user-friendliness and "stickiness" to attract and keep readers (maybe even evangelists), a job-seeker also needs to enhance employability "stickiness" through a winning, positive attitude first and foremost.
Preparing for an interview is more just than rehearsing your responses (C-A-R stories) to typical interview questions. It's getting your attitude around what value YOU can deliver that clearly differentiates you and is highly desired by the employer - and then projecting (exuding) that value in a compelling winning attitude.
What do you need to do to keep a winning attitude?
