How to Write a Great Resume - Free Online Course

I don't usually write blog posts touting things I've done, but I'm pretty proud of my new website, which is a free membership site for anyone struggling to craft a compelling resume.

There you'll find resume writing and job search lessons, a gallery of resume samples and a discussion forum. Lessons are applicable to people at all levels, from entry-level to executive, and are available to read online, listen to as MP3s, or download as PDFs to read offline.

The site has been buzzing since our soft launch just a few days ago, and we are signing up new members every day, but very few people are comfortable jumping in to an empty forum. I look forward to checking your site out. I've gotten so many opinions about resumes and I've even hired a pro resume writer in the past (though I am no longer happy with a lot of the copy he wrote). My biggest dilemma: one page resume vs. two page resume. The pro I hired insisted on one page, but a woman at my last company who makes hiring decisions says I should do two pages because of my experience.

I'm not a big fan of rules about resume length. But in general, I think that one page is fine for junior employees. managers and exec usually need more space. y rule of thumb is to use not one word more than you need to sell yourself. But not one word less either!
