Great post Louise and right on point.

No the resume is not dead. But I do believe the traditional paper resume is on its way out.

Job seekers need to learn to manage their professional presence both on and offline. The resume, no matter how you find or sumbit to a job, is always required at some point in the recruitment transaction.

The transactional, usage, and historical tracking of a job seekers resume coupled with great content from teams like your will be critical going forward.

I agree completely. It's now easy to tell a richer story of yourself with online profiles, blogs, and other web-based information, but the traditional resume is not dead and is the FIRST exposure a potential employer has to you. Therefore it is critical that your resume tells a compelling story about your skills and the impact you've had so that they want to know more about you.

It is clear that the 'resume' needs to be re-assessed. Is it dead? No Will it find you a job? No

Like any tool for the job-search, it should be used as part of a robust job-search. Do I think
employers are interested in wading through someone's online-portfolio (in general NO).
