Getting ahead in your career has never been just about competing aggressively and trying to win at all costs. It may seem to work in the short term - but in the long run, the real winners in the corporate world know how to show some class, as well as demonstrating some humility and respect for others.
When you do that, the plaudits and respect come your way. People start doing the word-of-mouth marketing for you.
A point that was clearly demonstrated at the recent MTV Video Music Awards by the singer Beyonce, as you'll see from this 3-minute clip.
And when you do the opposite - it comes back and bites you in the but, as Kanye West found out from his little escapade....
Totally agree. Giving credit where credit is due and waiting for your time to shine will go a long way in the workplace. People will appreciate the recognition and will be more than willing to acknowledge you in return when the time is right. Class, mutual respect and humility are characteristic of a leader.
