Dawn Bugni is one of my favorite bloggers and her most recent post, about the lessons she's learned from her newly adopted blind dog Bart, is one of her very best.
Seriously, go read the whole thing. It's great!

Louise - Thank you for the wonderful compliment and sharing Bart's story here. He's laying at my feet as I type this. :o)

I agree with you on the topic that we do not think about training to be unemployed and what the proper strategy is to get back into the job market.
Good comments and visual.

Good metaphor. Using a blind dog.... lol. In both cases the reality is to be fed, no matter how crappy they feel, and to do that they have to get up and get to work.
For the job seeker this means 'finding the job is the job'.
I have a post entitled that a couple months back.
Trained or not trained, you have to find a way.
Good thing this blog is here to provide that direction unlike your poor dog.

What a fitting analogy! I think this holds especially true for job seekers who are less familiar with social media and the importance it plays in today's job search.

Melissa, what a great point! I hadn't thought of that but so many of my clients really are partly blind because things have changed so much since they last looked for work.

A very moving article! And very sad, too! But as you've said, comparing it to the job search, this example may be very positive and inspiring as well.
